Pre-Sales Engineer for Central Region

The Opportunity:

Alacritech is looking for an extremely skilled, experienced and passionate Pre-Sales Engineer to join Alacritech’s quickly expanding sales team. As part of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to capitalize on the success already realized with Alacritech’s NFS Acceleration products and applying it to a number of customer opportunities in the Central Region. You’ll be our technical eyes and ears in the field, applying your skills to accelerating sales cycles by properly positioning Alacritech’s products, making it easy for customers to understand and technically evaluate them, and come to the conclusion that Alacritech can solve their pressing operational problems in managing explosive data growth.

Along these lines, you’ll conduct high-level technical briefings on Alacritech’s Network Storage Acceleration Appliance to prospects and customers in the EDA, Life Sciences, Software Development and Upstream Technical Computing markets. You’ll be responsible for articulating the technical aspects, features, and use cases of our products to potential prospects, customers, and partners. You’ll play a key role in developing bid responses as required; and be the technical “guru” (both internally and externally) on key technologies related to deployment of Alacritech’s products. You will be expected to actively participate in tradeshows and public speaking engagements. In addition, you’ll work with technical contacts at accounts to obtain detailed information and understanding of prospect/customer’s environment in order to facilitate optimal deployment options that will best meet prospect/customer’s business requirements.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Five + Years SE pre-sales experience in NAS related products. Should possess a solid working knowledge of various NAS storage platforms, including Network Appliance, Isilon, BlueArc, and EMC Celerra.
• Strong knowledge of IP-based networks, including switching and routing technologies.
• Command a detailed technical understanding of TCP/IP, NFS, CIFS, switching, routing, WAN configurations, as they relate to data flow and performance.
• Hands-on network diagnosis experience.
• Ability to interact across functional teams and effectively transfer technical knowledge to multiple channels.
• High degree of creative, analytical and technical skills and independent judgment.
• Ability to understand the sales process and assist in advancing sales opportunities.
• Willing to travel throughout the Central states on an as needed basis.
• Adept at using advanced tools to assist in generating benchmarks to demonstrate Alacritech’s performance superiority.
• Excellent spoken, written, and communications skills including presentations.
• Flexible, willing to be a team player, willing to go the “extra mile”.
• Very assertive yet respectful of others.
• Strong work ethic, honest with high degree of integrity.
• High quality references.

Desired:

• Specific configuration experience with Cisco and Brocade switches.
• General application knowledge relating to following markets: EDA, Life Sciences/DNA sequencing, Software Development, and Energy/Upstream Technical Computing.
• Expertise in server and desktop virtualization.
