Applies to: ATCP drivers only.
Under certain circumstances it is possible that the normal uninstall procedure for Alacritech drivers fails to complete properly. This can leave the host machine in a state where networking is not fully functional, or it is impossible to reinstall or upgrade the Alacritech drivers. In this case, the best thing to do is to completely uninstall and reinstall the drivers as outlined below.
Windows NT 4.0
- Dissolve any existing link aggregation teams.
-> Network
-> Properties
-> Adapters
-> Properties
-> Teaming
- Reboot.
- Remove the teaming and fastpath protocols.
-> Network
-> Properties
-> Protocols
-> Select "Alacritech Slic Team Transport"
-> Remove
-> Select "Alacritech Slic TCPIP Offload"
-> Remove
- Remove the adapter drivers via
-> Network
-> Properties
-> Adapters
-> Select Alacritech adapter
-> Remove
-> Repeat until no Alacritech adapters remain
- Exit network properties and reboot.
- Remove any of the following files if they exist:
c:\winnt\system32\
atkcounters.h
atkcounters.ini
atkperf.dll
ATKReview.exe
SlicAgent.dll
slicuser.exe
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\
atcp.sys
slic100.sys
slicteam.sys
- In the c:\winnt\inf\ (might be in c:\winnt\system32 on some systems), look for files named oemnad#.inf (where '#' can be any number), open them with Wordpad to see if they contain "Alacritech" or "ATCP". If they do, remove them. Take care not to remove files that do not contain "Alacritech" or "ATCP".
- Reboot.
- You should now be able to reinstall you Alacritech drivers according to normal procedures.

Windows 2000/XP/2003
To ensure a complete uninstall of the Alacritech ATCP drivers on Windows 2000/XP/2003 systems, do the following:
- Dissolve any network team interfaces.
- Remove the teaming protocol.
-> Select any network interface
-> Properties
-> Select "Alacritech SLIC Team Configurator"
-> Uninstall
- Remove the fastpath protocol.
-> Select any network interface
-> Properties
-> Select "Alacritech TCP Fastpath driver"
-> Uninstall
- Remove the Alacritech drivers via the management interface.
-> System Tools
-> Device Manager
-> Network Adapters
-> Right select "Alacritech 100 Series Server Adapter ..."
-> Uninstall
Repeat until all Alacritech adapters are removed.
- Reboot. When the system comes back up, if the Alacritech adapters are still physically present in the host system, the Win2K "Found new hardware Wizard" will notify you and ask you if you want to install. Select "Cancel" as many times as necessary.
- Warning: Before running the remove.exe program, it is vital to ensure that there are no "network connection properties" windows open and that the SlicTeam Configurator window is not open. If you are running release 6 or later, open a CMD window and cd to the w2k directory of your Alacritech distribution. Execute the command ".\remove.exe slic -f". If you are running a release prior to release 6, please contact Alacritech Tech Support for a Release 5 version of the remove program.
If the original uninstall proceeded correctly, the remove program should complain that it cannot find any slic adapters to remove, and the following steps should be unnecessary.
- Ensure that all associated files and drivers have been removed. If they still exist, delete them.
Use find to search in C:\WINDOWS\inf (C:\WINNT\inf for win2k) for any files that match the pattern oem*.inf containing the word Alacritech. Remove any matching files, and their associated oem*.pnf files.
in c:\winnt\system32\

atkveto.dll
slicteam.dll
slicagent.dll
slictray.exe
in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\
atcp.sys
slic100.sys
slicteam.sys
Remove the directory c:\Program Files\Alacritech
- Reboot. Your system should now be completely free of any Alacritech software.
- Install according to normal procedures.
- When you do the re-install, after completing the removal procedure described above, the accelerator setup screen should initially show:
| Driver |
Checkbox State |
| SLIC Adapter Driver |
Checked and greyed out |
| TCP Fast-path Driver |
Checked and not greyed out |
| Port Aggregation Driver |
Unchecked and not greyed out |
If either the TCP Fast-path Driver or the Port Aggregation Driver box is greyed out while doing an install following a removal, then the removal did not succeed. You should abort the install and contact Alacritech Tech Support.
Note that during an upgrade it is perfectly normal for these boxes to be greyed out, depending on what components were previously installed.
