The only preinstall environment currently supported by Alacritech is the BartPE boot environment. WinPE is not supported at this time.

Note: This recipe will only allow the Alacritech drivers to be used in "dumb NIC" mode. TCP offload is not supported for preinstall environments. Also, It will only work for Alacritech hardware that is compatible with ATCP drivers.

Building a BartPE CD with Alacritech Support
 
These instructions are based on using PEBuilder version 3.1.0 or 3.1.3.

1. Download PEBuilder from the BartPE website.
2. Expand and install the BartPE according to the instructions provided in the download package.
3. Download the Alacritech Pre-installation Environment Driver and copy it to a temporary location.
4. Expand the zip file that you downloaded in the previous step.
5. The expanded folder contains two subdirectories: Alacritech and include.
6. Copy the Alacritech folder to [BartPEInstallDir]\drivers\NET.
7. Copy the include folder to your BartPE include location and rename it Alacritech.
8. Finish building the BartPE environment according to their instructions. When you create the ISO image, the Alacritech drivers will automatically be included.
9. Boot the system from the BartPE cd. The Alacritech cards should be functional as normal NICs. The flash update tools should be available under X:\Alacritech.
