Scalable Network Accelerators for Volume Servers
Today’s servers are being tasked with running more applications and supporting more users than ever before. As businesses expand, a greater burden is being placed on the network. Everyday more users are demanding faster access to greater amounts of data. As servers become impacted by increased demands, the standard practice is to simply deploy more servers. While an easy solution, this can also be an expensive solution. In addition to the cost of the server, there is also the cost of the operating system and applications that will run on the server, and the cost of managing the server including data backups. It is estimated that in three years the cost of the electricity to run an average server will exceed the cost of the server itself.
Alacritech® Scalable Network Accelerators™ can help solve this problem by allowing servers to scale to support more users, deliver more data, and run applications faster. By offloading network processing to an Alacritech Accelerator the host CPU is freed from the burden of network processing. This means that the server is then free to run applications and support more users. In the end, the data center will need fewer servers and the overall cost to the data center will be greatly reduced.
