Alacritech and INLINE Announce OEM Partnership to
Provide Powerful NAS Appliances
Top-performing TCP/IP Offload Adapter Enables Reliability
and 150% Better Performance in NAS Environments
San Jose, Calif. December 16, 2002 Alacritech®,
Inc., the innovator of network accelerator solutions that enable fast and
efficient servers and storage systems, today announced an OEM and integration
partnership with INLINE Corporation, a leading provider of open systems
storage solutions. INLINE will integrate Alacritech's 1000x1 Single-port
Gigabit Ethernet Server and Storage Accelerator in its FileStorm 4000 and
8000 lines of network-attached storage (NAS) devices targeted for mid-range
and high-end markets. The NAS appliances running with Alacritech accelerators
will provide scalability, reliability and 150% better performance to INLINE's
customers in the commercial, higher-education and government sectors.
"INLINE's high-performance storage solutions have long focused on eliminating
single-points-of-failure to ensure reliability and availability in our
customer's storage environments," said Jim Fernandez, vice president of
engineering, INLINE Corporation. "By incorporating Alacritech's Gigabit
Ethernet TOE cards with failover and link aggregation capabilities in
our NAS appliance lines, we're able to guarantee the uptime we strive
to provide. In addition, we're achieving 150% greater performance than
with conventional adapters, which is critical to increasing data transactions,
throughput and scalability within our product line."
Alacritech is focused on providing the NAS market with the industry's
highest-performing solutions. As the pioneer of TCP/IP offload engine
technology, Alacritech designed its patented SLIC Technology® to enable
outstanding performance and connectivity in emerging storage networking
platforms such as blade servers, appliance servers, and iSCSI storage
devices. Alacritech's 1000x1 Single-port Gigabit Ethernet Server and Storage
Accelerator is based on SLIC Technology, and is the industry's only Integrated
Storage Network Interface Card (IS-NIC), which can simultaneously accelerate
both IP storage and standard Ethernet traffic.
"Our OEM agreement with INLINE further executes upon our NAS business
strategy and demonstrates the rapid adoption of SLIC Technology as the
standard for all high-performance NAS platforms," said Kim Peyser, senior
vice president of sales and marketing, Alacritech, Inc. "Today, customers
demand fast, reliable access to data in order to effectively manage a
wide range of business applications. Our architecture, and partnerships
with leading companies like INLINE, allows us to enable powerful, yet
cost-effective NAS solutions."

Windows NT, Novell, UNIX and Linux-based systems, as well as Macintosh.
About Alacritech Acceleration Technology
Alacritech's complete line of products is based on the company's patented
SLIC Technology, a TCP/IP data-path offload and acceleration architecture
proven to deliver the most efficient, top-performing server and storage
traffic acceleration possible. Alacritech server and storage accelerators
use the company's Internet Protocol Processor (IPP), a custom, programmable
ASIC developed to offload TCP/IP processing from the system to reduce
CPU utilization, increase data throughput and decrease network latency.
All Alacritech products offer industry-standard failover and link aggregation.
All Alacritech products also offer standard iSCSI support, Microsoft Windows
Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) qualified drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows
NT, and support for Red Hat Linux. A driver development kit is available
for OEMs integrating SLIC Technology into proprietary operating systems.
