San Jose, Calif., — May 20, 2002 — Alacritech®, Inc., the innovator of accelerator solutions that enable fast and efficient servers and storage systems, today announced the general availability of its 1000x1F Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator, the industry's first Integrated Storage Network Interface Card (IS-NIC) for 1000BASE-SX optical Gigabit Ethernet networks.

Alacritech's High-Performance Server and Storage Acceleration Technology
Alacritech's 1000x1F Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator uses the company's standards-compliant SLIC (session-layer interface card) Technology to offload network processing from software to silicon to achieve outstanding performance in servers, NAS (network-attached storage) and iSCSI (Internet SCSI) storage devices. To resolve full offload-related issues such as low network throughput and limited compatibility and scalability, Alacritech's data-path TCP/IP offload enables data movement to be performed by a custom designed ASIC on the adapter, and TCP/IP connection management and error handling to be handled by the host software.

Alacritech is shipping a complete line of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet accelerator products based on SLIC TechnologySLIC®, a patented data-path offload and acceleration architecture.
Alacritech's 1000x1F Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator will be available in May 2002 for a suggested list price of $1399 through Alacritech's channel partners or the company's Web site. Alacritech 1000x1 Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator with copper connectivity is currently available for a listed price of $999.
