Alacritech Announces OEM Partnership with Avid Technology, Inc.

Alacritech's Gigabit Server and Storage Accelerators to Significantly Increase
the Performance of Avid Unity Shared Storage Systems for Digital Media Production

Las Vegas, Nev., — April 8, 2002 — (Avid NAB Booth L13200) — Alacritech®, Inc., the innovator of network accelerator solutions that enable fast and efficient servers and storage systems today announced an OEM arrangement with Avid Technology, Inc. to integrate Alacritech 1000x1 Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator in the Avid Unity¹ LANshare storage system. This Avid Ethernet-based shared storage system using Alacritech's SLIC Technology® will provide the ideal storage solution for digital media production workgroups that require the simultaneous, efficient sharing capabilities of this cost-effective solution.

"Using Alacritech's accelerator cards in our LANshare system will enable us to supply our customers with the maximum performance possible," said Pete Balkus, vice president of engineering for Avid Workgroups & Storage. "Our arrangement with Alacritech underscores our dedication to offering server and storage solutions that address our customers' video production needs and provides them with an exceptional return on investment."

Alacritech 1000x1 Single-port Server and Storage Accelerator uses the company's patented, standards-compliant SLIC Technology to offload network processing from software on the host system to silicon on the adapter. This technology optimizes the performance in servers, network-attached storage and iSCSI (Internet SCSI) storage devices. Alacritech's Gigabit Ethernet Server and Storage Accelerator is the industry's only Integrated Storage Network Interface Card (IS-NIC), which can simultaneously accelerate both IP storage and standard Ethernet traffic.

"Digital media editing environments provide some of the most intense network demands," said Larry Boucher, founder, chairman and CEO, Alacritech, Inc. "SLIC technology is an ideal architecture for this environment as it enables the most efficient, highest-performance data movement in an environment where time is money."
