ALACRITECH LICENSES PATENTS to CHELSIO FOR DYNAMIC TCP OFFLOAD
SAN JOSE, Calif. – April 22, 2008 – Alacritech Inc., the leader of innovative data-delivery technology, and Chelsio Communications Inc., a leading provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) unified wire solutions, have announced that Alacritech has licensed Chelsio the use of its patents as Chelsio designs and sells solutions that support Dynamic TCP Offload,TM including support for Microsoft’s TCP Chimney Offload.

With the Alacritech licensing rights, Chelsio is now able to utilize Alacritech’s powerful Dynamic TCP Offload to free up server cycles, taking a big burden off the host’s processors and memory bus. As the demand for 10GbE-enabled products grows, server loads will increase and the need to offload this burden from the server becomes critical. For every Gb of TCP payload data being transferred across a network, approximately 1 GHz of processor cycles is required. Since most customers cannot afford to give up 10 GHz of server processing power to move 10GbE data, TCP Offload technology is essential.
